Drug Uses
Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and Juvenile arthritis can be treated using drug “Meloxicam”. They may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
consume Meloxicam with a glass of water as directed by your doctor. Take Meloxicam with a meal in order to avoid stomach upset. If you take cholestyramine, do consult your doctor how to take it with Meloxicam.
Missed Dose
If somehow you missed the dose, then immediately take that dose after you remember. However if you get to the nearby time for next dose, skip taking the Missed Dose and continue with your dose taking schedule. Do remember that you never exceed the intake of dose to compensate you missed dosage previously.
Storage
The storage criteria is that do keep the product away from heat, moisture and light and make sure that the temperature of the place where you will keep the product must be around 77 °F that means25 °C is permitted. Keep it out of reach of children’s.
More Information
Meloxicam may cause dizziness. These effects may even get worse if Meloxicam is consumed with alcohol or certain other medications. Always use Meloxicam with caution. Never perform any possible unsafe tasks with this drug until and unless you are too sure of it. Contact your doctor immediately if your symptoms do not improve or if they are getting worse. Meloxicam should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Never alter the quantity of drug other than what is being prescribed by your doctor.
Warnings/Precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Meloxicam if you have any medical complications, especially if you are allergic to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Meloxicam, aspirin or other NSAID, if you have a history of kidney or liver disease, diabetes, stomach or bowel problems (eg, bleeding, perforation, ulcers), H. pylori infection, swelling, asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), or mouth inflammation, if you have high blood pressure, blood disorders, bleeding or clotting problems, heart problems (eg, heart failure), or blood vessel disease, have poor health, dehydration or low fluid volume, or low blood sodium levels, you drink alcohol, or you have a history of alcohol abuse, if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant or are breast–feeding the baby. Meloxicam may harm to the fetus. Never use it during the last 3 months of pregnancy. You should discuss the merits and demerits of using Meloxicam while you are pregnant. With your doctor It is unknown if Meloxicam is found in breast milk. Do not breast–feed while taking Meloxicam. Some medicines may have an interaction with Meloxicam. Thus let your doctor know of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or diet supplements that you are taking. Do not take Meloxicam if you have recently had or will be having bypass heart surgery or if you have a peptic ulcer. Serious stomach ulcers or bleeding can occur with the use of Meloxicam. Taking it in high doses or for a long time, smoking, or drinking alcohol increases the risk of these side effects. Taking Meloxicam with food will not reduce the risk of these effects. Contact your doctor if you get severe stomach or back pain, black, tarry stools, vomit that looks like blood or coffee grounds, or unusual weight gain or swelling. Do not take another NSAID together with Meloxicam without consulting your doctor. Never take aspirin while taking Meloxicam. Elder patients may be more sensitive to the effects of this drug. Do not use Meloxicam in children younger than 2 yeas old. Children over 2 years old may be more sensitive to the effects of this drug.
