Drug Uses
Amoxicilline is used for treatment of infections caused by certain bacteria. It may be used with other medicines to treat ulcers of the small intestines.

How Taken
Use Amoxicilline as directed by your doctor. Take Amoxicilline with or without a meal. To clear up your infection completely, continue using Amoxicillin for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Storage
Store Amoxicilline at 77 °F (25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Amoxicilline out of the reach of children.

More Information
Amoxicilline may cause drowsiness. These effects may worsen if Amoxicilline is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Amoxicilline with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Amoxicilline should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Amoxicilline, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Amoxicilline, if you have a history of allergies, asthma, hay fever, or hives, if you have had a severe allergic reaction to a cephalosporin (eg, cephalexin) or other beta–lactam antibiotic (eg, imipenem), if the patient is a child of 9 years old or younger with diarrhea and a stomach infection, if you have infectious mononucleosis (mono) or have phenylketonuria, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Amoxicillin during pregnancy. Amoxicillin is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you are using Amoxicillin, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Amoxicilline. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Amoxicillin is effective only against bacteria. It is not effective for treating viral infections (eg, the common cold). Long–term or repeated use of Amoxicillin may cause a second infection. Your doctor may want to change your medicine to treat the second infection. Contact your doctor if signs of a second infection occur. Amoxicillin contains phenylalanine. If severe diarrhea, stomach pain/cramps or bloody stools occur, contact your doctor immediately. Amoxicillin may decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pills. To prevent pregnancy, be sure to use an additional form of birth control (eg, condoms) while using Amoxicillin. Amoxicillin may cause false test results with some urine glucose tests.
